Spain thrashed Argentina 6-1 in the recent friendlies and absence of Lionel Messi made a lot of a difference was recognized by Sergio Ramos. Spain captain Ramos said “It’s always nice to beat national teams with so many names and with players of great quality,” but Argentina’s captain is at next level and Spain are not the same without him.
Ramos also said “Leo is a top, top player, a unique player, and Argentina are inferior without him,” “Argentina, with Messi, is more powerful.”
“I remember that Argentina scored four against us in River Plate’s stadium,”
“Now we have a positive memory of playing them.”
He is happy with Spains’s performance but also believes the result was distorted by a flurry of late goals.
Another Spain player and Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa scored the opener when asked about the Barca Star said:
“In Argentina, they criticize Messi a lot but look at what happened today, you can see how it is when Messi isn’t there,” he said.
“Without Messi, it’s another thing. You don’t criticize someone like Messi.
“What people should do is give thanks for him. When Messi is not playing, Argentina transforms into another team. Our style is different if we face Messi.”
